Job Description:

The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered per physician, with emphasis in specialty areas such as Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care, including monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, and patient assessment.

Responsibilities:

  • Competent delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all Respiratory Care procedures per department policy and procedures.
  • Verify Respiratory Care physician's orders.
  • Attend and participate in department in-services, meetings, and patient care rounds.
  • Demonstrate excellent working knowledge of Respiratory Care instruments and equipment. Perform troubleshooting with appropriate problem resolution.
  • Perform effective airway management, including bag/mask ventilation and assisting with intubation.
  • Complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program with the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) Credential as per NBRC guidelines.
  • BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • NRP certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • At least one year of respiratory experience in the hospital setting.
