Assistant Baseball Coach – School YearEMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The following position is open for application at this time and will remain open until filled.
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and commitment to ongoing learning.
- Serve as a role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.
- The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
- Advises, coordinates, and supports a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training needed for individual and team success while promoting social‑acceptability, self‑discipline, confidence, and pride of accomplishment. Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
- The success of athletic programs influences community image; public exposure and parental pressure are significant but must not override sportsmanship and mental health objectives.
- The position includes extended time, injury risk, and due‑process considerations.
- This job description provides sufficient guidance; in areas not covered, the coach shall exercise common sense and good judgment.
- Maintain and implement all athletic policies approved by Coweta Public Schools, the Board of Education, and relevant regulations.
- Interpret state and league regulations consistently for staff.
- Follow the proper administrative line of command; refer all requests and grievances through proper channels and attend required meetings.
- Establish philosophy, skills, and techniques for staff; design conferences and clinics to ensure staff awareness of program objectives.
- Train and inform staff; encourage professional growth through clinic attendance.
- Delegate duties, supervise implementation, and evaluate assistants at season’s end.
- Maintain discipline, address grievances, and improve morale and cooperation.
- Perform other duties assigned by the athletic director or principal.
- Assist the athletic director in scheduling, transportation, and requirements for tournaments and special events.
- Coordinate event preparation and facility usage with maintenance and school employees.
- Provide documentation for state and system requirements (physical exams, parental consent, eligibility).
- Safeguard equipment and maintain proper protection.
- Advise on policy, method, or procedural changes.
- Mentor athletes, promoting trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
- Monitor athlete grades and conduct.
- Provide guidance, safety, and assistance at all practices, games, and travel.
- Distribute rules and unique regulations of the sport to each participant.
- Institute injury, medical, and emergency policies.
- Submit injury paperwork to the athletic office within 24 hours.
- Direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians.
- Determine discipline, enforce due‑process procedures, and coordinate with parents when dropping/inaeligible athletes.
- Assist athletes with college or advanced education selection.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators per the Superintendent.
EquipmentUses standard office equipment such as personal computer, printer, copier, fax machine, and telephone.
Travel RequirementsTravel to district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Current teaching methods and educational pedagogy.
- Differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Intermediate High School curriculum knowledge.
- Data analysis and action‑plan formulation.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
- Computer network and software application proficiency.

- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Qualifications Profile- Certification/License:
Oklahoma Teaching Certificate. - Motor Vehicle Operator's License or own transportation.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related discipline.
ExperiencePreferred:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level.
