This position is a great opportunity for nursing students (or recent grads awaiting licensure) to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You'll work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals while building practical skills that support your future nursing career.

What You'll Learn & Do

️ Patient Care, Quality & Safety

You'll be an important part of keeping patients safe and comfortable while learning best practices in clinical care.

Responsibilities include:

* Supporting nursing staff with patient transport, repositioning, and transfers using proper body mechanics

* Practicing standard precautions and isolation techniques as appropriate

* Selecting age- and developmentally appropriate equipment such as stretchers, side rails, and restraints

* Monitoring patients in holding areas and helping maintain a safe environment

* Performing hand hygiene before and after all patient interactions

Unit & Environmental Support

You'll gain exposure to how a clinical unit functions day to day by:

* Cleaning and resetting patient bays after each use

* Sanitizing equipment and workstations

* Emptying linen hampers and stocking/rotating linens in blanket warmers

* Unboxing, organizing, and stocking supplies

* Reporting broken equipment and assisting with work order requests

Communication & Team Coordination

Strong communication is a key nursing skill, and you'll practice it daily by:

* Answering phones and relaying messages accurately

* Verifying room assignments when needed

* Communicating with patient liaisons to support patient and family needs, under RN direction

Additional Learning Opportunities

Depending on the shift, you may also:

* Transport specimens to the laboratory

* Receive and verify supply deliveries from the Purchasing Department

* Escort parents or guardians to and from the unit

Teamwork & Professional Development

You'll be treated as a valued member of the care team while developing professional habits such as:

* Stepping in to help when needed and volunteering when you see opportunities

* Staying informed through the unit communication board

* Attending required unit in-services and continuing education programs

Licenses & Certifications

* Current enrollment in an accredited Professional School of Nursing or graduate of an accredited Professional School of Nursing awaiting NCLEX licensure

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
