RN Staff Per Diem – Pediatric Unit

St. Tammany Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide high‑quality pediatric care in our unit.

The Registered Nurse coordinates clinical activities for pediatric patients, applies the nursing process—including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and patient‑specific care—ensures compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies, supervises LPNs, unit assistants, and CNAs, and may float to the NICU.

• Apply the nursing process to deliver patient‑specific care
• Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants, and Certified Nursing Assistants
• Work within hospital policies and nursing standards
• Support departmental and hospital goals and objectives

• Successfully completed a Board Certified Nursing Program
• Current Louisiana RN licensure
• One year of experience in an acute Pediatric Inpatient Department preferred
• Current BLS certification required upon hire
• PALS certification required within 90 days of hire (certifications through ILCOR such as Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross are accepted)

Must possess good physical health and be able to:

• Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
• Lift up to 50 pounds
• Tolerate moderate noise levels

Physical effort required:

• Constant (67–100%) – seeing
• Frequently (34–66%) – lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing
• Occasionally (1–33%) – climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), stooping, crouching
