The Registered Nurse coordinates clinical activities for the Medical/Surgical patient. Responsibilities include the use of the nursing process – organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care to meet the patient’s specific needs. The RN also supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants, and Certified Nursing Assistants, works within the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies, and supports departmental and hospital objectives.
Minimum Qualifications- Successfully completed a Board Certified Nursing Program.
- Current Louisiana RN licensure.
- Current BLS certification from an International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) course that includes a manikin check‑off. (Courses such as those offered by Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross are acceptable.)
- ALS encouraged.
- Basic EKG skills encouraged within six months of hire.
- Excellent computer skills required.
- Ability to work 12‑hour shifts and meet holiday and weekend requirements.
Good physical health required, including standing, sitting, or walking for long periods. Must lift at least 50 pounds and work in a moderately noisy environment.

- Frequently (34%‑66%) – lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing
- Occasionally (1%‑33%) – climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), stooping, crouching
