Cantium is seeking a seasoned and entrepreneurial Geoscientist Technical Consultant with a proven record of prospect generation, field development, and reservoir characterization in the Gulf of America. This is a 3 - 6 month contract role that will directly contribute to Cantium’s strategy of value creation through development optimization and reserve growth across Cantium’s Shelf assets. The ideal candidate is both technically excellent and commercially aware, capable of working independently and collaboratively to identify, de-risk, and mature drilling opportunities.
Aboutthe Role
The Geoscientist Technical Consultant role involves key responsibilities that contribute to the overall success of the company to include: prospect generation, field development, and reservoir characterization in the Gulf of America. This role will directly contribute to Cantium’s strategy of value creation through development optimization and reserve growth across Cantium’s Shelf assets. The ideal candidate is both technically excellent and commercially aware, capable of working independently and collaboratively to identify, de-risk, and mature drilling opportunities.
Responsibilities- Generate, evaluate, and present exploration and development prospects using integrated seismic, petrophysical, and geological data.
- Interpret 2D/3D seismic (time and depth migrated) using industry tools.
- Correlate well logs, construct cross sections, fault maps, and net pay isochores across diverse Gulf Coast stratigraphy.
- Participate in full-cycle development from subsurface mapping to well planning and post-drill analysis.
- Collaborate with engineers, landmen, and management to develop drilling programs, AFE justifications, and reserve evaluations.
- Lead or contribute to technical presentations and provide feedback to peers on subsurface interpretation, volumes, and risking.
- 15 years of experience in upstream oil & gas, with demonstrated success in conventional resource plays (Gulf of America is an advantage).
- Proven record of discoveries and value-added development in mature fields.
- Must be able to make technical evaluations and recommendations quickly.
- Demonstrated success identifying bypassed pay, behind-pipe opportunities, and sidetrack drilling targets in mature fields.
- Strong subsurface integration skills: correlation of logs, construction of cross sections, fault plane and net pay maps, and reserve volume estimation.
- Strong expertise in:
- Seismic interpretation (AVO, RTM, inversion a plus).
- Sequence stratigraphy and depositional systems.
- Reservoir characterization and volumetric estimation.
- Prior work with regional 3D surveys and complex salt dome environments.
- Operational geology experience including wellsite monitoring, pore pressure prediction, and LWD integration.
- Familiarity with reserve auditing processes.
