Ampirical is growing, and we’re expanding our drafting leadership team to support that growth. This role exists to provide hands‑on leadership, mentorship, and quality oversight for our Relay drafting teams as project volume continues to scale. After a structured 3–6 month training period in our Covington office, this leader will transition to our Metairie office to manage and develop local drafting teams alongside our other Team Lead in Metairie.

We’re seeking a Relay Drafting Team Lead who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering high‑quality engineering solutions. In this pivotal role, you’ll guide a team of drafting specialists, ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.
- Lead & Mentor:
Provide direction, coaching, and support to your drafting team, fostering communication and team cohesion. - Project Oversight:
Monitor project progress, address challenges, and ensure accuracy and quality in all deliverables. - Resource Management:
Assist the supervisor with project pipeline, team workload, and resource allocation. - Quality Assurance:
Back‑check team members’ work, uphold drafting standards, and ensure compliance with company core values. - Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering to deliver designs that meet customer standards. - Hiring & Evaluation:
Participate in hiring and evaluating team members. - Documentation:
Create drawing packages including Protection & Controls and Substation deliverables. - Administrative:
Approve and verify team member timesheets.
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology, Drafting, or Design
- Level III: 2+ years of industry experience with associate/technical degree or 6 months to 1 year with a 4‑year degree
- Senior: 4+ years of industry experience with associate/technical degree or 2+ years with a 4‑year degree
- Superior interpersonal and leadership skills
- Exceptional communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)
- Team‑oriented attitude
- Experience with AutoCAD required
- Preferred:
AutoCAD Electrical (BIM), Autodesk Inventor (BIM), Vault Professional
