Job Description
The Division of Industrial Compliance and its associated boards ensure Ohioans are safe in public buildings such as businesses, educational institutions and municipal buildings. This includes drafting and applying the Ohio Building Code; conducting appeal hearings; issuing variances to code requirements; licensing commercial contractors; inspecting boilers, elevators and bedding; and regulating ski tramways. The division has responsibility for portions of the Manufactured Homes Program, and licenses installers and parks.
The division also oversees Ohio’s minimum wage, prevailing wage and minor labor law programs.
This position is HQ out of Summit County. You must live in Summit or an adjacent county to be considered.
- Preforms inspections of passenger elevators, per Ohio Revised Code, including new installations, alterations, & existing elevators for compliance.
- Preforms inspections of escalators, freight elevators, dumbwaiters, belt manlifts, platform manlifts, moving walks, stage lifts & other permanently installed lifting & lowering apparatus.
- Corresponds with building owners &/or maintenance personnel, architects, engineers, contractors, builders & elevator trade workers concerning the interpretation of state elevator codes.
- Investigates submitted complaints to ensure the protection of overall public safety.
- Administrative functions to include the submission of daily itineraries, monthly vehicle logs, written reports containing inspection information identifying violations, & notes to management team.
- Operation of information technology equipment to enter information into the division database.
