Medical Receptionist, Healthcare Administration
We are looking for a part-time Receptionist (20 hours per week) to join our small front-office team. Shifts cover up to 10 hours per day with a 1-hour lunch break. Pay is pro-rata and will depend on the number of hours worked.
Main duties of the jobOur Receptionists greet, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate serviceor healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective manner.
They provide general assistance to the wider practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person, online orvia the telephone.
Following training, you will be expected to deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
You will receive patients, consulting with members of the Practice team, and process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines.

Job responsibilitiesReception
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
Receive patients, consulting with members of the Practice team
Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines.
Information Technology
Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records
Process patient changes of address computer data and medical records
Have knowledge of the Practice clinical system (EMIS). Training will be provided as required.
Other tasks
At times open up building in the morning and close building in the evening
Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows and alarm
Any other tasks allocated by managers.
Person Specification Skills- Verbal communication skills ability to deal with people in person and on the telephone
- Clinical software skills (EMIS).
- Good general secondary education - educated to at least GCSE level standard.
- Educated to NVQ level in a relevant field.
- Experience of working directly with members of the public in a busy office environment.
- Experience of answering telephone calls in a high call-volume environment.
- Experience of setting up general office administrative systems / working in an administrative office environment.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
- Experience of working in a GP practice or similar environment.
