OverviewAt Amazon, we are working to be the most customer‑centric company on earth. Join this highly visible team as a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Cluster Manager in Atlanta. The DCEO Cluster Manager is a senior management role responsible for leading a large organization, managing Area Managers and/or Facility Managers who own data center facility infrastructure and ensuring 100% service uptime in the cluster.
Key Responsibilities- Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including facility managers, area managers, chief engineers, and facility technicians.
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of critical facility operations and maintenance.
- Manage on‑site shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub‑contractors, and vendors to ensure work is performed per established practices.
- Build and maintain a sustainable organizational structure.
- Work with business development, real‑estate, engineering, and construction to forecast staffing and maintain capacity.
- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon data centers, including preventive, corrective, and change management.
- Manage all facility‑related repairs in a timely manner.
- Lead weekly availability meetings, report outcomes, and liaise with the global team on initiatives.
- Vendor‑manage colocation services providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLAs.
- Respond to safety, security, and availability incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis.
- Manage OPEX and CAPEX for data centers and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead energy efficiency initiatives and support capacity planning and management.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience operating as a manager of managers or 10+ years of relevant experience managing mission‑critical facilities.
- In‑depth knowledge of Data Center Facilities such as generators, chillers, cooling towers, air‑handling units, UPS, electrical sub‑distribution systems, fire detection and suppression systems, and cable reticulation systems.
- Ability to respond to all facility‑related emergencies in a timely manner with sound recovery plans.
- Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
- Mission‑Critical facility management experience for a large enterprise or large colocation provider.
- Knowledge in servers, network, and platform.
- Expertise in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Broad knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, technologies, and architectures.
