Manufacturing Engineer, Production Manager, Operations Engineer, Quality Engineering
Ready to be the operational heartbeat of a thriving aerospace machine shop?
Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client, an established aerospace fittings manufacturer with over 62 years of industry leadership. They're seeking a Production Expeditor & Planner who understands the complexities of CNC machining workflows and can keep production moving efficiently through every stage from raw material to final assembly.
What You'll DoYou'll be the critical link between production, quality, assembly, and shipping/receiving, ensuring nothing gets stuck in the pipeline. Your day starts with developing and maintaining production schedules that balance customer deadlines with shop capacity, then shifts into active expediting mode: tracking work orders through multiple CNC machining and fabrication stages, identifying bottlenecks before they become problems, and coordinating with machinists, planners, and supervisors to resolve delays.
You'll monitor inventory levels to ensure materials and tools are available when needed, manage outsourced processes like heat treating and anodizing with timely part returns, maintain accurate job status records and estimated completion times, and prepare daily status reports for management. You'll collaborate closely with quality control to ensure parts meet specifications before advancing to the next operation, all while supporting continuous improvement initiatives to optimize workflow and reduce lead times.
Background
You have 5+ years in a machine shop or aerospace manufacturing environment and genuinely understand what happens on the shop floor. You can read blueprints and production schedules, you know the difference between a lathe operation and a mill operation, and you understand why certain materials require special handling or longer lead times. You've dealt with the chaos of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines and stayed calm while keeping everyone informed.
You're comfortable walking the shop floor, building relationships with machinists and supervisors, and using data to make informed decisions about where to focus your attention. Experience with manufacturing ERP systems helps you track everything efficiently, and you're known for your strong organizational skills and ability to communicate clearly across departments.
- High school diploma or equivalent technical training (Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field is a plus)
- 5+ years experience in a machine shop or aerospace manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, materials, and shop operations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production schedules
- Experience in production planning, inventory management, or supply chain coordination
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across all levels
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
- Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship
- Proficiency with manufacturing ERP systems (EPICOR experience is a strong plus)
- Experience with AS9100 and NADCAP quality standards
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Forklift certification and ability to operate material handling equipment
- Prior management or supervisory experience
Join a close-knit aerospace manufacturer where the right person can grow into management roles. Our client offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits including 401(k) matching and full health/dental/vision coverage, and a 4-day, 10-hour work schedule (Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM) that gives you three-day weekends. Overtime is available but the role balances planning work with the more dynamic expediting responsibilities, so you'll stay engaged without being desk-bound all day.
You'll be part of an aggressive 5-7 year growth plan backed by significant capital investment, working in a stable, established company with long-tenure employees and a family-oriented culture.
The planning portion of this role doesn't fill a complete 40-hour week, so the ideal candidate thrives in the expediting side: staying on top of moving parts, solving problems as they arise, and keeping production flowing smoothly. If you've managed teams before or aspire to move into management, this role offers clear growth opportunities with leadership that values developing talent from within.
Location& Schedule
On-site position in the Covina, CA area.
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM with occasional overtime as production needs require.
