Coventry is a city that is changing fast, and we’re looking for skilled people to join our team and help us take on a bright new future. We have extensive infrastructure responsibilities, including carriageways, footways, drainage and lighting. Leadership of a small team and recognition for hard work are valued in our Highways, Traffic and Transportation Teams.

You will work for Coventry City Council as part of the Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) and will be a member of a successful team responsible for the construction and routine maintenance of footways, carriageways and drainage. You will lead a small team and undertake all highway construction and maintenance activities, which include laying bituminous materials, drainage installation, kerb, paving and pipe laying and other related activities to precise levels and tolerances.

You will also have the opportunity to work on high‑profile schemes and projects across our city.

• Knowledge of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
• The ability to operate a variety of plant machinery including heavy rollers, dumpers, compressors/Jack Hammers, saws, whacker plates safely.
• Experience of working within Highway construction/maintenance.
• Ability to work within a team environment and under own initiative.
• Experience of running a small team.
• Good communication and numeracy skills.
• Experience of working with members of the public from a variety of backgrounds.
• Willing to undertake training when required.
• Able to work in all weathers.
• Full UK Driving License.
