BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – Lighting

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven Business Development Manager to take on a well‑maintained, high‑value territory worth over £1M across the West Midlands and Mid Wales with a leading UK commercial lighting business.

The Opportunity

A growing LED lighting manufacturer is looking for a Business Development Manager to drive sustainable sales growth across an established West Midlands and Mid Wales territory with a sales value in excess of £1M. You will sell through electrical wholesale, contractors, architects and consultants, creating further demand while ensuring key wholesalers continue to stock the company’s products for day‑to‑day ex‑stock business.

What

you will do
  • Develop and deliver a strategic territory sales plan to hit and exceed annual sales targets for both the business and your £1M+ area.
  • Build strong relationships with electrical wholesalers, contractors, architects, consultants, end users and specifiers to grow market share and maximise project opportunities.
  • Use your technical product knowledge to provide value‑engineered lighting solutions that win projects and generate repeat business.
  • Use your commercial acumen to optimise pricing within agreed guidelines and secure profitable orders.
  • Analyse wins and losses, track your pipeline and provide clear monthly reports on activities, results and trends.
  • Work closely with internal teams (quoting, projects, customer service, product engineering) to ensure a seamless customer experience and aligned go‑to‑market activity.
What we’re looking for
  • Proven success in sales and business development within the electrical or lighting sector, ideally through wholesale and project sales.
  • Strong track record of delivering business growth, building a robust pipeline and exceeding KPIs.
  • Ability to understand technical customer requirements and translate them into the right product and system solutions.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and communication skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders including contractors, architects and consultants.
  • Results‑driven, commercially minded and comfortable working autonomously to plan, prioritise and execute your territory strategy.
Package and benefits
  • £55,000 base salary per annum.

Reporting and location

You will report to a Regional Sales Manager, working remotely in the field with regular customer visits and team interaction as required.
