We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work‑life balance. That’s waiting for you at Sainsbury’s. Here, everything in our stores starts out in Food Commercial. Whether it’s product, proposition, packaging or price, the team is responsible for all food items available in store, digitally and on demand. You’ll discover it’s incredibly fast‑paced. People here are in it together and not afraid to take risks.
They’re enthusiastic too, and their amazing leadership team is right behind them. The knowledge and experience you gain here could set you up for career moves, anywhere else in the business. So, if you’re passionate about food and just as hungry to learn, you’ll fit in perfectly.
Our Clothing business is gearing up for an exciting year, and we’re looking for someone who thrives at the centre of fast‑paced commercial decision‑making. As a Clothing Trade Planner, you’ll bring together insights, teams and plans to make sure we deliver brilliant customer experiences across our stores and online. You’ll play a key role in shaping how we plan and execute trading activity, working with partners across Commercial, Retail, Marketing, Digital and Supply Chain to create clarity, spot opportunities and strengthen how we show up for customers.
If you enjoy connecting the dots, influencing outcomes, and helping teams work smarter, this is the perfect opportunity to make a significant impact.
In this role, you’ll bring together commercial, customer and operational priorities to create a clear, aligned and compelling trading narrative for Clothing. You’ll work closely with a broad network of partners, from Commercial and Digital to Retail, Marketing, Supply Chain and Finance - ensuring opportunities, risks and dependencies are understood and acted upon. You’ll support the coordination and visualisation of our customer plan, champion best practice across the trade planning community, and help drive continuous improvement in how we plan, execute and review trading activity.
You’ll play a vital role in forums across the business, ensuring our plans are optimised and executed seamlessly, and that insight and learnings feed into future cycles.
You’re a naturally curious and collaborative person who thrives in environments where no two days are the same. You’re confident influencing stakeholders at all levels and can simplify complexity into meaningful, actionable insight. You enjoy working cross‑functionally, bringing teams together to create aligned outcomes, and you’re comfortable balancing both the macro view and the detail needed to deliver great customer and commercial results.
Ideally, you’ve worked in trade planning or have strong experience across multiple retail functions, whether that’s commercial, retail operations, marketing, supply chain or digital - and you’re energised by shaping and improving processes that help teams work smarter. You’re also highly capable in Excel and able to turn data into compelling stories that drive decision‑making.
- Highly competent in creating engaging content and analysis using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and changing priorities at pace.
- Experience working effectively with cross‑functional teams and ensuring clear accountability and ownership.
- Experience in trade planning or cross‑functional retail operations (commercial, retail, marketing, digital, supply chain etc.).
- A self‑starter who is comfortable working independently across multiple work streams.
You’ll split your time between home and Ansty SSC (Coventry), coming into the office when it matters most for collaboration and business needs. We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer so you’ll be welcomed whatever you are and wherever you work. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working.
The role offers a range of benefits: colleague discount, pension scheme, life cover, performance‑related bonus (up to 10% of salary), annual holiday allowance (with option to buy an additional week), season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, salary advance, a broad range of retail discounts, employee assistance programme and generous maternity or adoption leave (up to 26 weeks’ pay) and paternity leave (up to 4 weeks’ pay).
