We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Manager to join a leading construction company delivering complex projects up to £100m across the DfE, High-Rise Residential, Mixed-Use, MoJ, and Retail sectors.
This is a key succession role, initially shadowing the current Regional Quality Manager with a clear and structured development plan to take over full regional responsibility within 18 months. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving quality standards across live projects, supporting site teams, and embedding robust quality systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Support and shadow the Regional Quality Manager across multiple projects, gradually assuming full responsibility for regional quality performance.
- Monitor and audit quality standards on site, ensuring compliance with company procedures, employer's requirements, specifications, and industry standards.
- Work closely with site teams to educate, mentor, and upskill staff on quality expectations, best practice, and right-first-time delivery.
- Lead the implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of quality management systems and digital quality tools.
- Carry out regular site inspections, quality reviews, and audits, identifying non-conformances and supporting corrective actions.
- Promote a proactive quality culture across all project teams, from pre-construction through to handover.
- Liaise with project managers, design teams, subcontractors, and clients to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Support the production and review of ITPs, inspection records, quality plans, and handover documentation.
- Assist in lessons‑learned reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
- Prepare reports and dashboards to clearly communicate quality performance to senior management.
- Proven experience working on live construction sites, with a strong understanding of technical construction processes and sequencing.
- Background in sectors such as education (DfE), high‑rise residential, mixed‑use, MoJ, or retail.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems within a main contracting environment.
- Excellent IT skills, with confidence using digital quality systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage site teams at all levels.
- Ability to educate, mentor, and challenge teams constructively to improve quality outcomes.
- Organised, detail‑focused, and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Comfortable operating both on site and at regional level, with the ambition to progress into a senior leadership role.
- Construction‑related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
- Quality‑related qualification (ISO 9001, Lead Auditor, or similar).
- CSCS card (appropriate level).
- SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable).
- Professional, approachable, and credible with site‑based teams.
- Enthusiastic about quality and continuous improvement.
- Confident, articulate, and capable of presenting to senior management and clients.
- Ambitious, with a clear desire to progress into a Regional Quality Manager role.
- Clear and structured progression to Regional Quality Manager within 18 months.
