Digital & Social Media Manager (12‑month fixed term)

Orbit are delighted to be recruiting for a Digital & Social Media Manager to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract. The role is responsible for supporting, driving and delivering programmes of work that enhance our digital experience across all audiences and for developing and leading Orbit's social media strategy and execution. This hands‑on position will increase Orbit's brand awareness and perception online while driving performance and impact through social media.

The role is agile, based out of our Coventry office roughly once per week (subject to fluctuation in line with business need) and is part of Reputation & Brand where you’ll help us build a culture and brand that people want to be part of.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Digital Marketing & Communications Manager in delivering digital transformation programmes as part of an agile product ownership or project team.
  • Deliver projects to agreed deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Provide ongoing support for Orbit’s digital platforms, including messaging services, customer portals, websites, social media and other owned media.
  • Provide effective line‑management support for the Digital Marketing & Communications Manager to drive team performance and development.
  • Develop, execute and evolve Orbit’s channel‑specific social strategies alongside the Social Media Officer.
  • Align activities and results with Orbit’s key objectives such as service delivery, aiming to provide customers through social media with among the best customer experience of any Housing Association.
  • Stay on top of social media trends, channels, algorithm changes and platform innovations to keep Orbit well placed within the social media space.
  • Identify and nurture Orbit’s customers and key target audiences on social media and turn them into community champions, advocates and superfans who can share and amplify Orbit’s storytelling.
  • Collaborate with external partners, stakeholders, content creators and trusted community voices to grow Orbit’s reach, relevance and credibility.
  • Lead and drive content creation in a hands‑on manner, including short‑format videos, photography and other social media assets.
  • Use a 360‑degree framework to work with the Social Media Officer, subject matter experts, editorial leads and other colleagues to uncover content with real value and storytelling potential.
  • Plan, manage, execute and optimise in‑house paid social media activity (via Meta and Linked In) so that results and ROMI continually improve.
  • Create compelling ad assets, copy and creative to maximise results against key objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience working in a social media role.
  • Outstanding understanding of social media channels (Meta, Linked In, X, Trustpilot, You Tube) and related tools and analytics.
  • Passion for social media and a habit of continuous learning about channels and digital behaviour.
  • Exceptional copywriting, editing and narrative/storytelling skills.
  • Hands‑on experience creating content, including planning shoots, capturing video footage or images, and editing with tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience in a senior, assistant manager or manager role.
