The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is seeking a skilled and proactive Additive Manufacturing Technician to play a key role in delivering high‑quality additive manufacturing projects from initial request through to final delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a cutting‑edge environment, operating state‑of‑the‑art AM technologies and contributing to innovation across multiple sectors.
About the RoleAs an Additive Manufacturing Technician, you’ll support the entire production lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and reliability across all work requests. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and quality teams to maintain seamless workflows and uphold MTC’s world‑class standards.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, interpret, and manage work requests with clear documentation and on‑time delivery
- Operate and maintain AM equipment including DMLS, MJF, FDM, and MBJ platforms
- Follow process controls and conduct in‑process inspections to ensure parts meet specification
- Carry out post‑processing tasks such as support removal and surface finishing safely and effectively
- Maintain a safe working environment, completing risk assessments and using correct PPE
- Keep accurate machine logs, production records, and inspection data for traceability
- Drive continuous improvement, including root‑cause analysis and updating SOPs
- Engage in training and stay up to date with new AM technologies and techniques
- Hands‑on experience with polymer or metal AM technologies (both ideal)
- Good understanding of process control and quality assurance
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret CAD files
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and excellent attention to detail
- Familiarity with health & safety standards in manufacturing environments
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, or similar discipline
