The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is home to some of the brightest minds in global engineering. As part of the High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC), you will contribute to pioneering work in additive manufacturing, using some of the most advanced equipment and processes available anywhere in the world.

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands‑on, detail‑focused Additive Technician to support all aspects of additive manufacturing operations, including:

  • Preparing and mixing specialist materials
  • Running build processes across multiple machine platforms
  • Cleaning, inspecting and testing finished components
  • Managing trial data—dimensions, yield, defects and material testing outputs
  • Analysing data using methods developed by researchers and engineers
  • Ensuring work schedules are met
  • Producing clear reports using Microsoft Office tools
  • Supporting neighbouring operations when required
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment

Person Profile Essential Skills & Experience
  • Highly dexterous with excellent attention to detail
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Hands‑on, practical approach with a positive “can‑do” attitude
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Experience mixing and blending ceramic materials
  • Competent in preparing technical reports
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and perform QC checks
  • Skilled in day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Desirable
  • Experience using laboratory equipment (furnaces, rheometers, particle size analysers, mechanical testing rigs)
  • R&D environment experience
  • STEM‑based education
  • Full UK driving licence
