Assistant Facilities Manager

The Assistant Facilities Manager will support the delivery of day-to-day facilities and site services across all Trust schools, under the direction of the MAT Facilities Manager. The role involves coordinating operational site activity, supervising Site Services staff, and ensuring that buildings, grounds, and facilities are safe, compliant, clean, and fit for purpose. The post holder will work closely with Headteachers, School Operations Managers, contractors, and MAT central teams to ensure statutory compliance, effective maintenance, and high operational standards across multiple sites.

They will also deputise for the MAT Facilities Manager when required, contributing to continuity of service and effective incident response. Professionalism, consistency, and a proactive approach are expected to be role-modelled at all times.

• Proven experience in facilities, estates, or site services management, ideally within a school, MAT, or public sector environment
• Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation, statutory compliance, and safe systems of work
• Experience of supervising staff and coordinating contractors across multiple sites
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, problem-solve, and respond effectively to operational issues
• Confident communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
• Willingness to work flexibly across Trust sites and participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota
