We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge. Join us as an Operations Talent Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Education Operations. This is an exciting opportunity to lead initiatives that strengthen capability, drive integration across teams, and ensure our people strategy supports long-term business resilience and growth.

About

the role

You'll play a central role in shaping and driving our Education Operations talent strategy—personally influencing demand, working directly with teams, and using your leadership to shape how we build capability across the division. You'll work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and global colleagues, positively influencing peers, supporting organisational development, and identifying the skills and training we need for the future.

Through your work, you'll help foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and shared success that strengthens our global team and supports our divisional goals.

Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  • Proactively lead recruitment tracking and workforce planning, ensuring roles are filled in a timely, strategic way aligned with budget and business needs.
  • Develop and deliver engaging induction and core skills training that sets colleagues up for success—now and in the future.
  • Manage the training budget and relationships with external providers, using insights and feedback to shape future learning strategies.
  • Partner with internal SMEs to design tailored, capability‑based development programmes that evolve with team needs.
  • Act as a key contact for global footprint initiatives, helping integrate teams in Manila and the India Operations Centre and strengthening cross‑location collaboration.
  • Create clear, accessible resources to support consistent recruitment, onboarding, and induction across our global locations.
  • Drive strategic staffing approaches to reduce reliance on temporary workers and build strong, sustainable permanent teams.
  • Champion knowledge sharing and professional development opportunities that enhance capability and career progression across the division.
  • Monitor and address skills gaps, feeding insights into succession planning and long‑term capability building.
  • Support cultural awareness and inclusivity through thoughtful training and engagement initiatives.
  • Contribute to business continuity planning by ensuring critical roles, skills, and knowledge are safeguarded during peak delivery periods.

This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.
