Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Optometrist to join our Hospital Optometry team on a 12-month fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.
This post will provide valuable experience within hospital optometry across both University Hospital Coventry and Hospital of St Cross, Rugby, working closely with our multidisciplinary team of Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, and Nursing staff.
This is an ideal role for Optometrists seeking to expand their clinical skills and experience within a hospital setting. The post is open to both newly qualified and experienced Optometrists.
Responsibilities- Deliver a comprehensive range of optometric services in core areas, including refraction (routine, diagnostic and paediatric), theatre refractions, and ophthalmic care.
- Provide specialist medical contact lens management (keratoconus, post-graft, high myopia/hyperopia, cosmetic, diagnostic).
- Offer visual impairment rehabilitation, in-house spectacle dispensing and eye casualty triage services.
- Work within the Cataract service where experience and qualifications permit.
- Support the educational programme for pre-registration optometrists and train ophthalmologists, nurses and other professionals within the organisation.
- Contribute to the Saturday morning Eye Casualty Triage service as required.
- Full-time position, Monday–Friday 9am–5pm with additional Saturday morning work on a rotational basis.
- Open to both newly qualified and experienced Optometrists.
- Immunisation and vaccination report required from a UK occupational health provider or UK GP.
- Secondment will be considered for internal candidates; if offered, obtain approval from your current line manager.
