CT MRI In-Patient Bookings Clerk

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, flexible and well organised individual to join our friendly team as a CT MRI In-patient Bookings Clerk.

The successful applicant will have excellent computer, organisational and communication skills and be able to work well under pressure. You will need to develop an excellent understanding of imaging patient pathways and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role also requires confidence when liaising with patients, medical staff, general practitioners and referring hospitals.

The post holder will be expected to organise their workload effectively, contributing directly and positively to the service. You will be required to use your initiative, work independently where needed, and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

• To provide administrative and clerical support to the CT and MRI department thereby ensuring effective and efficient patient care.
• To demonstrate excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team utilising sensitivity, empathy and ability to manage conflict.
• To lead the Radiology Assistant Group and to develop and facilitate effective IP flow for patients requiring MRI and CT scans using hospital IT system (RIS and Extra Med).
• To schedule patient appointments for any requested examinations or treatments as defined by the referral and justification (vetting) notes on the Radiology information system (RIS) utilising the appropriate patient information and pre‑procedural paperwork.
• Arrange direct day‑case admission and pre‑procedure clinic appointments for patients to the MRI and CT Radiology Suite.
• Liaise appropriately with specialty wards and medical secretaries to arrange admission for patients requiring a ward‑based day case or inpatient stay for treatment.
• Liaise with inpatient wards within the hospital to book any requested examinations or treatments as defined by the referral and justification (vetting) notes on the Radiology information system (RIS) or as instructed by the multidisciplinary team.
