To support this next phase, Orbit is seeking to appoint two Independent Committee Members to its Treasury Committee, bringing additional specialist expertise, external perspective and independent challenge. These appointments will strengthen governance, oversight and constructive independent challenge in relation to Orbit’s Treasury Strategy, funding arrangements and treasury risk management.
The RoleAs an Independent Committee Member of the Treasury Committee, you will play a key advisory and governance role, supporting oversight of funding strategy, treasury activity and financial risk. Working alongside senior executives and board members, you will be providing expert insight, constructive challenge and assurance to support sound decision making, including the development and oversight of Treasury Strategy and Policy and compliance with regulatory expectations.
Orbit is particularly interested in individuals who bring strong experience across areas such as debt capital markets, funding and financial structuring, liquidity and cashflow management, and/or interest rate risk and derivatives, gained within banking, advisory, corporate treasury or housing association environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesIndependent Committee Members will:
- Provide expert advice and constructive challenge on treasury strategy, funding activity and financial risk.
- Bring current external market insight to inform decision making and long‑term planning.
- Support robust governance, assurance and oversight of funding and treasury decisions.
- Act as a sounding board for the executive treasury team during periods of increased activity.
- Help ensure complex financial and risk issues are clearly articulated and well understood at committee and board level.
Candidates will bring strength in one or more of the following areas:
- Significant, hands‑on experience in debt capital markets, gained within an international bank, advisory firm or comparable financial institution, including direct involvement in bond issuance programmes.
- Senior treasury leadership experience within a housing association, regulated organisation or FTSE environment.
- Experience as a Group or Corporate Treasurer, with exposure to complex funding structures and liquidity management.
- Experience contributing to or overseeing Treasury Strategy, Policy and funding arrangements.
- Strong understanding of treasury risk management, including liquidity, interest rate and counter party risk.
- Experience operating within a board or committee environment, providing independent challenge.
