Role details
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join a well-established organisation based in Coventry. In this role, you will take ownership of preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and UK GAAP, ensuring that reporting deadlines are consistently met. You will play a key role in the month-end and year-end close processes by reconciling accounts, reviewing journal entries, and resolving discrepancies to deliver accurate and timely financial information.
In addition, you will contribute to budgeting and forecasting by analysing trends and providing insightful commentary to support strategic decision making. Monitoring cash flow activities and supporting treasury functions will also form a critical part of your responsibilities, all while maintaining robust internal controls and ensuring full regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities of the Financial Accountant
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant IFRS and UK GAAP, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met consistently.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes by reconciling accounts, reviewing journal entries, and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts by gathering financial data, analysing trends, and providing insightful commentary to management.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements by monitoring financial transactions and implementing best practices across all accounting activities.
- Monitor cash flow activities by tracking receipts and payments, identifying variances, and supporting treasury functions as required.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency within the finance function while maintaining accuracy and reliability of financial data.
What the successful candidate will bring
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA).
- Demonstrated experience in preparing financial statements under UK GAAP or IFRS
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present clear insights to stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams on shared objectives.
