Sales Engineer – Build Your Career Toward Area Sales Management with TH Plastics

Location: Northeast England (Yorkshire, Newcastle, Lincolnshire)

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per year + Uncapped Commission

The Role

We’re looking for a natural relationship builder with a keen interest in industrial technologies and a relentless attitude to business-to-business (B2B) selling. Reporting to the Technical Manager
, you’ll work remotely across your assigned region, travelling between customer manufacturing sites to:

  • Drive business development, lead generation and sales growth within your region.
  • Visit customers to assess requirements, determine potential solutions and demonstrate ancillary machinery while building long‑term partnerships.
  • Provide clear, accurate communication and data to the technical team for each project, ensuring all parties understand and agree on proposals.
  • Maintain ongoing customer communication to ensure excellent support is provided.
  • Manage CRM updates for opportunities, contacts, companies and meetings.
  • Stay informed of new products, technologies and market developments.
Typical Week
  • Monday–Thursday – Customer site visits, solution assessments, relationship‑building
  • Friday – CRM planning, lead follow‑ups, internal technical discussions, planning for the following weeks

This is a field‑based, remote role that combines autonomy, technical discussion and commercial negotiation.

Your Development Path

This role is designed as a structured pathway into Area Sales Management
:

  • Initial phase: Learn our product portfolio & industries served, support senior sales colleagues, manage smaller opportunities independently.
  • Growth phase: Take on larger capital projects, key accounts and regional sales planning.
  • Long‑term: Become a recognised leader within the plastics industry, driving growth across your region.

We actively invest in building senior sales professionals — not just salespeople.

  • Passionate about engineering, B2B sales and creative problem‑solving
  • Comfortable discussing mechanical systems with engineers and operators
Requirements
  • Clean UK driving licence with willingness to travel 4–5 days per week, including occasional overnight stays
  • Desire to work in consultative sales — technical, multi‑month projects involving engineers, production managers, buyers and directors
  • Degree in engineering, technical sales or related discipline
  • Experience in B2B sales
Training & Support
  • Structured onboarding plan with comprehensive industry, markets and product training
  • Travel to partner facilities in Italy
  • Ongoing technical mentoring and sales coaching
  • Support to develop technical expertise and commercial confidence
What Success Looks Like in Year One
  • Close your first capital project
  • Build long‑term relationships with at least 20 active accounts
  • Demonstrate technical competence across our core product range
Salary & Benefits
  • £30,000 – £35,000 base per year (depending on experience)
  • Uncapped commission

  • 25 days annual holiday (Jan–Dec)
