Section Engineer

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible forắt delivering 90km of the mulai route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Based in Coventry – the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes.

• Allocate and supervise Site Engineers, ensuring accurate setting‑out, task completion, and coordination with Section Engineers/Foremen to manage clashes and maintain workflow.
• Manage quality and compliance by ensuring Inspection & Test Plans, Quality Check Sheets, method statements, and risk assessments are completed, approved, and followed.
• Oversee engineering and subcontractor requirements to ensure sections of work are delivered in line with the construction programme.
• Control and manage project documentation, including distribution of information and marking up design drawings to reflect completed works.
• Assess and plan plant, resource, and procedural requirements with the Section Foreman, regularly reviewing and improving procedures for efficiency.

• Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Section Engineer
• Read and understand drawings
• Have experience of working with Permit System and actively raise permits to work
• Have experience working in Earthworks, Roadworks, Structures or Drainage
