Responsibilities

• Join the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) SME Group to assist in the delivery of SME programmes as a design-led Technology Transfer Engineer.
• Help manufacturing SMEs become more productive and competitive; accelerate SME economic growth through research-led innovation.
• Work with local manufacturers to create new products, improve existing designs and speed up their New Product Development cycle.
• Carry out the design and development of new products and provide manufacturing recommendations for client environments.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree level qualification in a relevant subject with applied industrial design experience.
• Experience in design and development of new products and making manufacturing recommendations.
• Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
• One or more of the following:
• Computer-aided design (CAD)
• Design for Manufacture (including manufacturing of polymer products)
• Design for Assembly
• Mechanical design/engineering
• Experience of prototyping, specifically Additive Manufacture

You Should Be Able To

• Communicate expertise and experience from boardroom to technician.
• Apply knowledge to the development of new products, physical prototypes and manufacturing processes.
• Use relevant technologies and software to support innovative design solutions.
• Work on multiple concurrent projects with short timescales (typically 10–15 days).
