Everything You Need to Know
As an Adoptions Engineer Technician, working in a dedicated team you’ll be our main decision maker for the adoption of new sewers on behalf of Severn Trent. We’ll be looking for you to do the vetting of all new sewer adoption and sewer diversion proposals put forward by our customers, covering everything from gravity systems to pumping stations & sustainable drainage systems!
You’ll manage sites within a specific area, building relationships with the customers who work in that region. The service you offer is crucial in supporting a market‑leading customer offering.
Technical knowledge and experience in this area are preferable but not an absolute must; for the right candidate we can supply you with in‑house training giving you the opportunity to become an expert in your field, providing comprehensive technical expertise and support throughout the adoption process. You’ll also focus on facilitating all legal adoption agreements and ensuring a high standard of wastewater asset is offered for adoption in line with the Design & Construction Guidance, the company design manual and any other applicable civil engineering standards.
OtherAccountabilities for the role
- Responsible for reviewing the design of sewer adoption & sewer diversion proposals ensuring all relevant standards are met.
- Delivering a high standard of customer service to our developer customers every day.
- Support in the delivery of the most efficient and sustainable design solutions enabling the best hydraulic performance available and reducing the need for pumping stations where possible on drainage systems put forward for adoption.
- Work closely with our Construction Project Managers in the field to assess and provide options & solutions to developers & consultant engineers to support the successful delivery of sewer adoption & diversion applications.
- Review sewer diversion proposals to ensure the integrity & performance of our existing network is not compromised, avoiding any disruption to our existing customers.
- Technically assess camera surveys of constructed sewers and advise developers of defects to be repaired prior to adoption.
To be a success in this role, it would be great if you had previous experience of drainage systems or qualifications in civil engineering but it’s not essential – we can develop the technical skill you need if you have the drive to succeed. We’ll look for you to have brilliant attention to detail and be able to work to tight timescales with a high level of accuracy.
