Job Description & How to Apply Below
SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist School, Coventry

If you've studied psychology and found yourself most drawn to the chapters on child development, behaviour, and how people learn differently, this role is worth reading on.

A specialist secondary school in Coventry is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible, ideally before Easter. It's a full-time position supporting students aged 11 to 19 across Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Severe and Moderate Learning Difficulties (SLD/MLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). After 12 working weeks, if the placement is going well, it becomes a permanent role.

This is the kind of setting where your understanding of how students think, communicate, and process the world around them genuinely matters. You'll be working alongside teachers, SENCOs, and therapy teams, which means you'll learn from people who've spent years in this field, and you'll contribute from day one.

What you'll be doing:

* Supporting students across Key Stage 3, 4, and 5 within ASC, SLD, and PMLD classrooms

* Providing 1:1 support, small group work, or blended classroom assistance depending on each student's needs

* Building consistent, trusted relationships with students so they feel settled and ready to engage

* Following individual education and care plans, and contributing to observations and progress notes

* Working as part of a close-knit staff team that includes teachers, SENCOs, and therapists

* Helping create calm, structured environments where students with complex needs can thrive

* Adapting your approach to different students, different mornings, and different moments

What we're looking for:

* Some experience supporting young people with SEN, in a school setting

* A genuine understanding of ASC, PMLD, SLD, or related needs, whether through study, work, or both

* The kind of patience that comes from actually wanting to understand a student, not just manage them

* Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with a wider professional team

* A Psychology, Education, or related degree is a real advantage here

* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

What's on offer:

* Full-time hours, five days per week

* A clear route to a permanent contract after 12 working weeks

* Daily exposure to specialist SEN practice alongside experienced teachers and therapists

* A role where the consistency you bring to students is genuinely valued

Why Sprint?

If you're looking to work as a teacher in a mainstream classroom, providing day-to-day supply cover, we're probably not the agency for you. But if you're passionate about supporting students with additional needs and want a long-term role where you can build consistency and see the impact of your work every day, that's exactly what we do.
