About the RoleLuma Education Recruitment are working on behalf of one of our clients, a small but rapidly expanding SEN school in Coventry, to recruit a qualified SEN Teacher. The school supports pupils aged 7–18 years, although learners will be taught a earlier key stage curriculum level.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher who is committed to inclusive education and is looking to make a real difference within a supportive, forward-thinking SEN setting.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons aligned with a primary-level curriculum
- Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and associated learning needs
- Plan lessons in line with EHCP outcomes and individual learning plans
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
- Implement effective, trauma-informed behaviour management strategies
- Track progress and maintain accurate assessment and reporting records
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leadership
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching children or young people with SEN
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A flexible, patient, and empathetic approach to teaching
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Previous experience in an SEN school, alternative provision, or specialist setting
- Confidence teaching across a wide age range at primary curriculum level
- Experience supporting pupils with complex needs or SEMH
- Competitive salary of £170 – £200 per day, depending on experience
