Job Description & How to Apply Below
If you're looking for a role where you can see the difference you make every single day, this could be the right next step.
We're seeking a Teaching Assistant to support a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class in a mainstream infant school. This is a full-time, temporary to permanent opportunity starting 9th March 2026. You'll be in the same classroom each day, building relationships and becoming a familiar, steady presence.
This class thrives on routine. Clear expectations, calm transitions, and consistent adult support make a real difference.
Your role will be to help maintain that structure, support learning in small groups, and provide reassurance for pupils who need a little extra guidance to stay focused and confident.
As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you'll support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing. You'll work closely with the Class Teacher to ensure the day runs smoothly, from morning phonics through to structured afternoon activities.
Responsibilities
* Provide classroom support in a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 setting
* Deliver 1:1 support where required
* Lead small group interventions to reinforce core learning
* Support pupils’ engagement, behaviour, and wellbeing
* Supervise during the Mid-Day Supervisors hour
* Work alongside the Class Teacher to maintain structure and routine
Requirements
* Recent experience supporting children in a primary school, ideally including pupils with additional needs
* Full-time availability, five days per week
* Strong understanding of Key Stage 1 development
* Confidence working 1:1 and with small groups
* Calm, patient approach to behaviour and learning
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
* Genuine passion for the work
* A background in Psychology, or a genuine interest in teaching or educational psychology, is welcomed
What's on Offer
* Temporary to permanent postion - all being well, the role will go permanent in September.
* Long-term, consistent work
* Support from an experienced education consultant
* Opportunity to build meaningful KS1 classroom experience
