Position: Lecturer (Teaching) in Mental Health Nursing

The Role

As a Lecturer (Teaching) in Mental Health Nursing, you will teach and coordinate courses while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programmes to ensure an effective student learning experience.

Based on campus at Coventry University, you will work with academic colleagues to enhance teaching and embed relevant research, professional practice, and enterprise within modules and courses.

Duties include

Teach modules at HE levels 4–7, including creating and adapting materials, delivering varied learning sessions, and supporting students throughout teaching blocks. Contribute to assessment design, implementation, ratification, and quality assurance. Prepare and deliver formative and summative feedback. Support delivery of simulated practice learning activities. Undertake the role of Academic Assessor. Support course recruitment activities, including interviews and open days. Maintain high standards of academic integrity in teaching, learning, and assessment.

Qualifications

Required
  • Active and live registration with the NMC as a Mental health Nurse
  • Practice Assessor training and experience of supporting student nurses
  • Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or Honours Degree with appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
  • A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held
  • PhD or active membership of appropriate professional body is advantageous

You will have proven experience teaching Mental Health Nursing, delivering high‑quality learning and maintaining strong student engagement in either a higher education or clinical setting. Enthusiastic and self‑motivated, you will support and enhance active learning with clear evidence of promoting student success. As part of a global education provider, you must demonstrate awareness of cultural differences and communicate effectively with diverse learners.

Innovation and collaboration are essential, so the ability to work independently and within a wider team, alongside a flexible approach to working, is key for this role.

Competitive starting salary range from £38,781 up to £44,093 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered Our Culture
