About the RoleLuma Education Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients, a small but rapidly expanding SEN school in Coventry, who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their growing team.
The school supports pupils aged 7–18, with the majority of learners working at a primary curriculum level. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs in a structured, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Assist the class teacher in delivering a primary-level curriculum
- Support children with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and associated learning needs
- Help create a safe, calm, and positive learning environment
- Implement behaviour support strategies in line with school policies
- Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and social development
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Support pupils with personal, emotional, or behavioural needs where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or school setting
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Support Worker
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, or complex needs
- Team Teach or other behaviour support training (desirable but not essential)
- Competitive daily rate of £90–£100, depending on experience
