SEN Teaching Assistant - EYFS/KS1

Some children need a steady adult who shows up every day and learns their routines properly. This role exists to provide that consistency, first in Key Stage 1 and then within a growing specialist provision.

We are an education recruitment agency specialising in SEND, supporting a mainstream infant school north of Coventry. The school has an Additionally Resourced Provision for pupils with Communication and Language needs, and pupil numbers are increasing from September.

There is an immediate vacancy in a Year 1 and Year 2 classroom due to maternity leave. The long term plan is for the successful SEN Teaching Assistant to move into the specialist provision in September as an additional adult, providing consistent support as the provision expands. You would also support with absence cover within the provision when needed.

This is a hands on classroom and SEND support position, suited to someone who wants to build experience steadily and be part of a team.

Responsibilities

* Support teaching and learning in a Year 1 and Year 2 classroom

* Provide general classroom and SEN support throughout the school day

* Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils

* From September, support pupils within the specialist provision

* Implement and follow Personal Learning Plans

* Provide personal care where required

* Be available to support absence cover within the provision

Requirements

* Recent classroom-based experience supporting children with SEND

* Confidence supporting Communication and Language needs

* Willingness to provide personal care

* Calm, patient and proactive approach

* Commitment to a long term, potentially permanent role

* Genuine interest in working within SEND

Pupils within the specialist provision are often sensory seeking and benefit from structure and predictability. You may spend time supporting regulation in a sensory space, then move into focused learning or outdoor activities. Consistency matters here. So does curiosity about the reasons behind behaviour.

Formal qualifications are helpful but not essential. Attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are more important.

What’s Offered

* Temporary to permanent opportunity

* A clear transition plan from mainstream classroom into specialist provision

* Support from the class teacher initially and the SENCO from September

* A stable setting where consistency improves outcomes

* Ongoing support from the agency throughout the placement

Why Sprint?

If you’re passionate about supporting students with additional needs and want a long term role where you can build consistency and see the impact of your work every day, that’s exactly what we do.
