What is the job role?

We are looking for a SEMH teacher to play a vital role in helping our pupils overcome barriers to learning due to emotional or behavioural difficulties. You will work closely with class teachers, support staff, and families to identify individual needs and put in place tailored strategies, interventions and support plans. This may include developing emotional literacy, teaching self‑regulation skills and providing small group or one‑to‑one sessions to build confidence and resilience.

You will also contribute to whole‑school approaches that promote wellbeing and positive behaviour, ensuring all pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn.

Who are we looking for?
  • Have experience of working with pupils with SEMH or additional needs.
  • Be a skilled classroom practitioner who can adapt teaching to meet diverse needs.
  • Use positive behaviour support and restorative approaches to promote engagement and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and outside agencies to provide consistent support.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy and resilience.
We offer
  • A supportive and experienced staff team who are passionate about inclusion.
  • Ongoing professional development and wellbeing support.
  • A positive, nurturing school ethos where relationships and kindness are valued.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS and all relevant safeguarding and pre‑employment clearances, and to provide two satisfactory references.

Our workforce data shows that men and people from minority ethnic backgrounds are under‑represented; we encourage applicants from these backgrounds to apply. This does not prevent individuals with or without other protected characteristics as set out within the Equality Act 2010 from applying for this post.

Following recommendations from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) for an additional pre‑employment check with effect 1 September 2022, please note that an online search may form part of this recruitment process.
