This is a benign HPB consultant post with opportunities to work collaboratively with the four resectional surgeons to expand operating and clinical skills.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on 18 March 2026.

Outpatient Clinics: The post will have a weekly outpatient session.

Theatre Sessions: The new consultant will have regular day case theatre commitments at UHCW NHS Trust and St Cross Hospital, Rugby, and will be expected to work flexibly within the HPB team and the general surgical department, back filling main theatre lists.

The successful candidate will take part in the 1:4 HPB on‑call rota and the 1:14 general surgery on‑call rota, with a 24‑hour on‑call period and post‑take cover the following day. Consultants must be within 30 minutes of UHCW during these periods. On‑call support is provided by two SpR grades, two junior clinical fellows, and three Foundation Doctors.

Support for lifelong learning is provided by the Specialty Group and the Trust. The postholder will agree to a CPD programme that meets service provision requirements, completing a revalidation‑ready annual appraisal and undertaking multisource feedback at least once every five years.

Undertake administrative duties associated with patient care and clinical area management. Contribute to effective leadership and management of the team, encouraging constructive feedback, supporting solution‑focused decision making, demonstrating financial awareness, delegating tasks effectively, and complying with health and safety policies and procedures.
