Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are currently recruiting for an Analyst within our Livestock, Retail and Consumer Insight team, working on a hybrid basis, two/three days from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working remotely from home. The role assists with the collection and analysis of market information to produce key industry statistics and reports. The team works across several analytical areas, including commodity markets for beef, sheep, pork and dairy, and monitors consumer attitudes and retail trends.

As an analyst you will work across one or more of these areas.

We are looking for a confident communicator with an analytical mindset. A degree in Economics/Agriculture or a similar discipline is therefore essential and experience or knowledge of the agricultural sector is an advantage.

Established in 2008, AHDB is the independent, impartial public body that unlocks success in British agriculture. Funded by a levy from over 100,000 British farmers, growers and processors in the beef, lamb, pork, dairy and cereals sectors, we support and champion farmers and processors, often where no one else can or will.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute analysis, interpretation and commentary relating to agricultural commodity markets or retail and consumer markets
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of analytical areas, keeping abreast of appropriate industry developments to proactively ensure analysis is accurate and relevant
  • Ensure market information is high quality, accurate and clearly presented
  • Deliver market insight presentations to levy payers (farmers and processors) and key industry stakeholders
  • Collect and input agricultural market data from primary and secondary sources to produce key industry statistics
  • Meet deadlines and ensure information enquiries are answered accurately
  • Follow existing data and information quality processes, ensuring the accuracy of outputs by communicating verbally and in writing
  • Distribute market information and update relevant information on AHDB websites
  • Maintain and develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Take responsibility for the planning, delivering and reviewing of projects, demonstrating accountability throughout
  • Undertake any other duties required to assist with the operational priorities of the Economics and Analysis team
Essential Criteria
  • Professional qualification to at least degree standard in Economics/Agriculture or another numerate discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Experience of using modern IT applications such as Microsoft and in particular Excel. Experience with Access and Power BI would be an advantage, although not essential
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • A clear and professional communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Effective time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines
The Benefits
  • 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, to include hybrid working
  • 33 days of annual leave plus one privilege day (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • Life assurance cover (4 x salary)
  • A market-leading defined contribution pension scheme with Legal & General
  • Enhanced pay of 20 weeks for maternity, adoption and shared parental leave, subject to length of service
  • A paid day each year to volunteer and make a difference in your community
  • Comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme
  • Excellent training and development opportunities and an agreed development plan
  • Recognition Awards throughout the year
  • Reward Gateway membership - this gives you a huge number of online discounts and savings

Apply now, or call  if you require any further information.

Please note that we reserve the right to close the vacancy early should we receive a significant number of suitable applications.

At AHDB, we are committed to developing, maintaining and supporting a culture of equality, diversity and inclusion, to include flexible working opportunities. This applies to both our workforce and the practices we follow.
