The Pick Up Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and safe transportation of goods from designated locations to their intended destinations across the United States. This position requires a dependable individual who can manage routes efficiently while maintaining excellent communication with dispatch and customers. The driver is responsible for loading, securing, and unloading cargo, ensuring that all items are handled with care to prevent damage.

Attention to detail and adherence to safety regulations are paramount to uphold company standards and customer satisfaction. Ultimately, the Pick Up Driver contributes to the seamless operation of the supply chain by delivering goods punctually and professionally.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle class being operated.
  • Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items safely, typically up to 80 pounds.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a delivery or pick up driver.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning software.
  • Customer service experience to handle interactions professionally.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if required.
Responsibilities
  • Operate company vehicles to pick up goods from suppliers, warehouses, or other designated locations.
  • Provide good customer service while delivering material
  • Inspect vehicles before and after trips to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
  • Load and unload cargo carefully, verifying the accuracy of shipments against delivery documents.
  • Plan and follow the most efficient routes to meet delivery schedules and reduce fuel consumption.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members regarding delivery status and any issues encountered.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents during transit.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local transportation laws and company policies.
Skills

The Pick Up Driver utilizes strong organizational skills daily to plan and execute efficient routes, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries. Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with dispatch and providing excellent customer service during interactions. Physical stamina and safe handling techniques are applied when loading and unloading cargo to prevent injury and damage. Problem-solving skills help the driver navigate unexpected challenges such as traffic delays or vehicle issues.

Additionally, familiarity with navigation technology and record-keeping software supports accurate tracking and reporting of deliveries.
