Position Summary

The Teleflex Medical OEM Coventry, CT facility operates 7 days per week and maintains 4 shifts; 3 regular shifts plus a part-time weekend shift. There are 55 employees operating many fiber and braid production processes within a 3 story, 21,000 sf facility that was originally built as the town grist mill in 1716. The building is one of the oldest continually operating businesses in the country.

The Operations Manager will serve as the operations leader in the Coventry, CT braid manufacturing facility, provide leadership to all manufacturing related activities to achieve business and financial goals and is directly responsible for manufacturing operations, capacity utilization & analysis, and EH&S. The role is expected to model exceptional leadership behavior and presence and to proactively collaborate with all stakeholders and functional partners.

Principal

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for meeting internal quality, on time delivery, schedule attainment and productivity goals
  • Perform/lead activities necessary for the effective management of the manufacturing operation, including selecting and training employees; coaching, developing and motiviating; meeting organization goals and objectives; planning, organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the facility
  • Execute site specific long term and short term business strategies and objectives related to the Teleflex Medical OEM business unit and broader Teleflex strategies
  • Develop and execute the strategic and operational plan in conjunction with the site management team to achieve continuous process improvement, cost reduction and lean manufacturing
  • Ensure the proper implementation of manufacturing principles as they pertain to the Teleflex production system. For example, utilizing lean tools for 5S, continuous flow, standardized work, total productive maintenenance, CIP initiatives and material pull systems
  • Build leadership and talent bench strength across the site through effectively coaching, developing, and encouraging employees
  • Collaborate with functional partners and stakeholders including quality, sales, customer care, product development, finance, and HR to ensure success of the business
  • Ensure all environmental health and safety systems, processes and procedures are followed, champion a safety driven culture. Observe and enforce all company rules and policies pertaining to EH&S. Lead by example
