POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Building Supervisors deliver excellent service to all members, guests and program participants. The primary responsibility is to provide overall supervision of the YMCA facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Builds relationships with members, prospective members, program participants, volunteers, and staff to gain and retain memberships.
  • Conducts interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective and current members and may sell memberships.
  • Responsible for all program areas when supervisors are not present.
  • Relates to the public in a positive manner, addressing member concerns and interacting with participants as well as informing supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • May be responsible for opening/closing the facility, as well as monitoring procedures and policies during the assigned shift.
  • Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services and staff.
  • Assists with Welcome Center supervision as needed.
  • Actively participates in department and branch staff meetings and/or related trainings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Communication & Influence Inclusion Functional Expertise Engaging Community QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 18 years of age
  • At least 1 year customer service, sales or related experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail required
  • Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
  • Complete before first shift: YMCA cause & culture training; membership-specific computer training; all required abuse prevention training.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check.
  • Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.
  • Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities.
