Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hrs/week. Every 3rd weekend rotation (Friday/Saturday/Sunday). Holiday rotation also included.

- Provide appropriate care specific to the age and population of the patient, ensuring understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Population Specific Criteria.
- Demonstrate ability to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to patient needs and culture.
- Perform an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the assigned patient's ongoing nursing care needs, including data from the patient or significant others as appropriate.
- Prioritize data collection according to patient’s immediate needs and use assessment findings in discharge planning.
- Develop, review, revise, and individualize the plan of care to address the patient's nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians and other clinical disciplines as appropriate.
- Provide teaching specific to the patient’s health care problem.
- Implement interventions that are consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Adhere to nursing protocols and standards of care for the unit.
- Apply current knowledge in nursing practice based on standards and research literature.
- Administer medication without error and utilize critical thinking regarding medication effects on patient.
- Evaluate patient care to determine response to care/interventions for optimal outcomes, monitor outcomes, and document patient response.
- Assess patient capabilities and limitations related to nursing and medical interventions, and monitor ability to manage care needs after dismissal.
- Provide a complete verbal or written change of shift report to the oncoming care provider, including SBAR content and overall plan of care.
- Recognize and address patient and family capabilities and limitations (physical and mental).
- Perform technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety.
- Stay accountable for learning new skills and equipment within specified area and time frame.
- Demonstrate correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to product information and policy manuals.
- Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining, returning or cleaning/disposing of equipment and supplies.
- Charge accurately for use of supplies and equipment according to policy.
- Maintain competence in area of experience and professional behavior in attitude, demeanor, and interactions to achieve org mission.
- Participate in meetings and/or committees as needed to assist in decisions affecting area/unit or organization.
- Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
- Initiate actions to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk to patient, family, or hospital employees (e.g., falls, needle sticks, patient concerns).
- Complete appropriate report form for any risk (e.g., incident report, patient concern report, maintenance request).
- Work within the scope of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.
