Job Summary

Methodist Physicians Clinic – Jennie Edmundson Medical Plaza Address: 808 E Pierce St. – Council Bluffs, IA

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm

Responsibilities
  • Monitor, record, and report changes in patient conditions and be involved in every aspect of patient health.
  • Maintain detailed reports to doctors and patients with precision and accuracy.
  • Prepare, assist, and instruct patients for examinations and treatment, and inform family members on health care education topics.
  • Document all lab, procedures, and appointments on tracking forms.
  • Complete tracking forms and follow up on missed appointments and procedures.
  • Assist Health Coaches by working patient lists and scheduling appointments as directed.
  • Provide patient and family education at the direction of the provider and recommend appropriate community resources.
  • Train patients according to provider direction 98% of the time.
  • Perform telephone triage to determine patient needs by recording and reporting patient condition to provider and advising patient based on provider instructions.
  • Receive and return patient calls within 90 minutes based on medical priority 95% of the time.
  • Accurately record and report patient’s condition according to department policy 98% of the time.
  • Maintain work areas to ensure healthy environmental conditions by cleaning and organizing equipment and rooms 99% of the time.
  • Handle prescription renewals and inquiries to facilitate patient care; discuss questions with provider and relay information to pharmacy 99% of the time.
  • Provide appropriate care specific to the age of the patient to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the “Age Specific Criteria”.
  • Prepare exam rooms and equipment to facilitate treatment and examination of patients by setting up instruments/equipment and stocking supplies 95% of the time.
  • Prepare patient for provider exam by reviewing medical records, weighing patient, checking vital signs, performing medication reconciliation and obtaining information relevant to patient care 95% of the time.
  • Assist providers to retrieve tests and medical records and obtain lab work as directed 95% of the time.
  • Dispense medications at the direction of a provider to patients; instruct patients and family members regarding education and treatment to ensure patients completely understand how to take the medication correctly 95% of the time.
  • Assist and/or perform phlebotomy with proper labeling and handling of specimens, accurately complete requisitions, and collect specimens according to standard procedures/protocols and performing and documenting quality control activities 95% of the time.
  • Ensure accuracy of order entry and complete appropriate documentation without error at least 98% of the time.
  • Answer phone calls according to protocol at least 98% of the time.
  • Return phone messages according to protocol at least 98% of the time.
  • Provide test results according to protocol at least 98% of the time.
  • Accurately complete pharmacy request 100% of the time.

Job Requirements Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
Experience
  • If the specialty is not listed, no prior experience is required.
  • South Family Practice:
    Minimum 1 year clinical experience and bilingual ability.
License/Certifications
