Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Accountant to manage various accounting tasks, including handling fuel accounting, managing material inventory, and verifying invoices. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

+ Manage accounting for fuel, mileage, employee maintenance, and material inventory.

+ Process daily trucking tickets and mileage, including preparation and approval.

+ Handle intercompany loans, transactions, billing, and reconciliations between all entities.

+ Perform banking and account reconciliations and approvals.

+ Record all aspects of depreciation including initial purchases, calculations, and asset removal.

+ Stay up-to-date on all federal and state commerce regulations related to transportation and storage of goods.

+ Prepare and publish monthly and yearly recurring journal entries, including those related to depreciation, real estate taxes, accruals, and interest.

+ Oversee business tax registration and handle monthly sales and use tax calculations, submission, and payment.

+ Prepare and publish financial statements.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

+ 5+ years of accounting experience.

+ Experience in cost accounting, month-end processes, and general ledger management.

+ Proficiency in audit, tax preparation, journal entry, and reconciliation.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ CPA certification preferred.

+ Experience in accounting for multiple businesses.

+ Skills in finance analysis, tax return preparation, accounts payable, and financial reporting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cottage Grove, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.00/hr.
