Position Middle School AVID Targeted Services Summer School Teacher (Multiple Positions) Hours8:30 am - 1:15 pm Location

Cottage Grove Middle School Wage Information $37 per hour Assignment Information:
Program dates and times are July 6 - July 30, Monday - Thursday, 9:00am - 1:00pm. The daily schedule for this position is 8:30am - 1:15pm. The program site is Cottage Grove Middle School. Summer School planning and teacher professional development will occur on June 10th and June 25th.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide instruction and guidance for students attending Middle School Targeted Services Summer School.

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

Each day students will participate in a morning check and connect session, lunch, and three structured class periods: math, ELA, and AVID. Check and connect, ELA, and AVID content will be planned around a common theme. Teachers will lead check and connect sessions and teach one content area. Teachers will be assigned to a team, entering sixth grade, seventh grade, or eighth grade.

The staffing ratio will be 20:1.

Every student will have access to a mobile device.

PRIMARY

JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, investigate, and communicate.

* Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.

* Incorporate SEL curriculum and AVID strategies into check and connect sessions and elective instruction.

* Develop and teach elective content related to the program theme and in collaboration with team members.

* Utilize Schoology as a platform for student learning and family engagement.

* Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students.

* Communicate with families to share information about program content and student progress.

* Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, site coordinators, and extended learning coordinator in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic concerns.

* Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.

* Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic issues or special academic interests.

* Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff.

* Supervise students during transitions between classes/activities, arrival, and dismissal.

* Other duties as assigned

* Current Minnesota license as appropriate and required for elective content.
