Warehouse Lead for a small wine distributor located in Costa Mesa CA.
This is a long-term Temporary position with possibility of Temporary to Hire with 6-8 hour work days, depending on business peak. Hours will be between 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
Pay range is $23-25/hr, depending on experience
. Must be available to work overtime during the week and weekends, as needed.
Must be minimum 21 years of age

This can be a fast paced environment, and only candidates who are used to working in this type of environment will be strongly considered. Must be able to keep up with high-volume and demand.
- Oversee end-to-end fulfillment, warehouse operations, and logistics systems across the company's retail, corporate gifting, and wine club. This role services as the operational hub between the warehouse, sales, events, and leadership teams-ensuring orders are fulfilled accurately, inventory is managed proactively, and logistics processes scale efficiently.
- The ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail oriented and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory management, order fulfillment, quality control, and team leadership.
- This position collaborates with Logistics, Sales & Marketing, and reports directly to the Director of Operations to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
- Warehouse Operations Management
- Manage daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, packaging, and shipping wine products.
- Monitor supplies for shipping, storage, handling, and general administrative needs.
- Collaborate with the Logistics Director to implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve productivity, accuracy, and safety.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations, especially regarding alcohol handling and storage.
- 2. Inventory Management
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconciliations to maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Anticipate demand and plan inventory with the purchasing team.
- Manage special deliveries for custom clients, seasonal subscriptions, and maintain accurate pricing and weight data.
- Update relevant internal tools and notify the operations team of changes.
- 3. Order Fulfillment & Quality Control
- Oversee order fulfillment processes, ensuring accurate and timely shipping.
- Implement quality control procedures to maintain product standards.
- Manage local delivery orders and coordinate logistics and event-related shipments.
- Track package statuses and communicate updates to customers and internal teams.
- 4. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, train, and mentor the warehouse fulfillment team to foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Manage staffing needs, including hiring, scheduling, and workforce planning.
- 5. Shipping & Receiving
- Coordinate product receiving, cross-referencing packing slips, and updating inventory.
- Oversee shipping logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Monitor compliance with shipping regulations and update the team on relevant changes.
- 6. Facility Management
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and equipment functionality.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- 7. Customer Service
- Address customer service issues such as lost or delayed packages.
- File damage or loss claims and ensure resolutions are communicated effectively.
- 8. Seasonal (Q4) Responsibilities
- Assist with holiday order management, ensuring timely fulfillment of corporate and organic orders.
- Monitor and report on customer service issues and shipping delays.
- This role requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to continuous improvement in warehouse operations.
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years of warehouse experience with 1 year as a warehouse lead is preferred.
- Proficient in typing, data entry / spreadsheets, and navigating various software programs.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Docs, and other productivity tools is highly valued.
- Beginner level wine knowledge is preferred.
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, and team leadership.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation planning, and fleet management systems.
- Familiarity with shipping regulations and compliance, particularly for alcohol.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency with inventory and order management system.
- Excellent communication abilities for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Strong leadership qualities with a focus on team development and continuous improvement.
Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $23.00 - $25.00 Per Hour
