general description

the landscaping/grounds person is responsible for administering, directing, and controlling the hotel grounds and landscape. The landscaping & grounds person is responsible for maintaining a safe, appealing, and clean property while maintaining good customer service and a positive attitude.

duties and responsibilities
  • complete tasks assigned by chief engineer, assistant chief or engineering supervisor
  • manages projects and preventative maintenance programs throughout the property ground and landscaping areas
  • work hands-on to assist in maintaining the hotel facility and related equipment
  • work on and assist on landscaping and grounds areas projects and provides support to all areas of hotel operations
  • monitors the entire hotel property grounds, including the front (entrance) of the property by keeping landscaping area free of trash and presentable to all hotel guests
  • develops work procedures and monitors all work on the grounds and within the landscaping area, with routine cleaning, pressure washing, sealing, steam cleaning, gardening, etc. Maintain and service the property in a productive way.
  • prepares and submit any work orders in regards to landscape to maintain a clean and vibrant property, rich of plants and flowers
  • completes all projects in accordance with company policy with all outside vendors who perform specialty work on property
  • complete approved work orders, weekly task (pavers cleaning & sealing, decks cleaned, trash removed around property and parking structure, potted plants kept in good shape, and fill in and back up the hotel engineering team when needed)
  • maintains control over storage and use equipment in a professional manner
  • completes monthly and quarterly inventories of all equipment, tools, and operating supplies within the landscape and grounds areas
  • keeps records of work accomplished, all weekly tasks as well
  • maintain and monitor the trash dumpsters in the loading dock area as well as all things disposed of on property, and when additional pickups are needed please notify the chief of engineering
  • maintains all safety procedure while work is completed as well as maintaining the safety program and safety culture throughout property
  • maintains company equipment by keeping it clean and in working order
  • conducts weekly walks around the property of the hotel looking for any areas that need attention or repair
  • ensures that co-workers/engineers are properly trained for when you are off to cover landscaping and grounds duties
  • ensures that hotel is operating as efficiently as possible with regards to landscaping and grounds area
  • ensures property cleanliness and aesthetics
  • properly clock in and out in accordance to adp and company handbook
qualifications
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one to two years related experience or equivalent
  • ability to work at heights and in inclement weather
  • commitment to excellence and high standards
  • strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • ability to work independently and as a member of various teams

physical/mental requirements

while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
