We are a dynamic and rapidly growing personal injury law firm based in Orange County seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations and manage our Accounting team. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on leadership role for a finance professional with direct law firm experience and a proven ability to scale financial infrastructure within a professional services organization.

, understands the complexities of law firm accounting, and thrives in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment. This role will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and strategic financial planning in close partnership with executive leadership.

What You Will Do

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Manage and develop accounting personnel, including AP, AR, Trust Accounting, Payroll, and Bookkeeping
  • Oversee the general ledger and all month‑end and year‑end close processes
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition for law firm accounting, including WIP, contingency fee accounting, and alternative fee arrangements
  • Oversee trust accounting and ensure compliance with legal industry standards and bar regulations
  • Manage relationships with banking institutions and external vendors
  • Evaluate and implement financial systems and process improvements

Budgeting, Forecasting & Growth Support

  • Prepare and present financial reports to firm leadership, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process and monitor performance against budget
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic growth initiatives

Accounting Operations & Infrastructure Scaling

  • Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, and payroll
  • Ensure accurate client trust accounting and full compliance with California IOLTA and State Bar requirements
  • Develop, implement, and scale internal controls to support rapid firm growth
  • Lead accounting system upgrades, automation initiatives, and team expansion efforts
  • Oversee and negotiate contracts across the firm
  • Support accounting operations for domestic and global business activities

Compliance, Controls & Audit

  • Maintain and enhance internal controls appropriate for a rapidly growing law firm
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory examinations
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable federal, state, and California‑specific regulations impacting law firms

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing accounting team
  • Partner closely with the CFO, Managing Partner, Executive Committee, and Department Leaders
  • Foster a culture of accountability, scalability, and continuous improvement
  • Role may include other relevant duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with required law firm or legal industry experience
  • 2+ years of experience managing and supervising an Accounting Department
  • Demonstrated experience scaling a law firm or professional services organization from approximately $50M to $150M+ in annual revenue
