GRISWOLD INDUSTRIES Job Description Engineering Coordinator JOB DIMENSIONS Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Engineering Coordinator will assist in the documentation and organization of various technical and engineering requirements associated with Cla-Val Products. These activities include Item number creation, Bill of Material (BOM) creation and modification, Datasheet updates, Engineering Change Order (ECO) creation/management, Engineering procurement requests, and other clerical duties. The position will also assist in documenting various Engineering and production procedures.
Reportsto Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Creates and reviews bills of material for new and revised products;
- Maintains updates to Datasheets;
- Works with all Engineering staff (R&D, drafting, document control, manufacturing, etc.) to assist with the implementation of new products, product updates, fixtures, and other Engineering produced parts;
- Enters R&D Customer Orders and/or Purchase Requests to procure R&D parts and/or office supplies;
- Maintains a close working relationship with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, Foundry, Machine Shop, and Assembly departments to provide technical document support for all product lines;
- Keeps existing documentation up to date with changing requirements from manufacturing and production, including updates to existing drawings and the maintenance of related support documents;
- Uses production management programs and word-processing software to create, store, revise, retrieve and distribute Engineering records, documents, and associated digital product information;
- Creates and processes Engineering Change Orders and implements their effectivity;
- Coordinates document updates with other Cla-Val facilities and certification/approval authorities;
- Maintains data integrity and improves consistency of Engineering data;
- Recommend improvements to various production management programs, engineering systems and databases;
- Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations ; and
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:
Experience/Training/EducationEquivalent to Associate of Arts Degree (A.A.) Associates of Science degree (A.S.) in Business Administration or two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience;
experience with document control and clerical duties; experience with PLM and/or ERP systems; moderate knowledge of spreadsheet software programs (Excel); understanding of machine shop and basic assembly practices. Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD and Solidworks) is beneficial. Ability to rapidly learn company configuration management and engineering programs and procedures.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes and/or prior exposure to products manufactured in foundry, machine shop, and/or assembly environments;
- Experience in PLM and/or ERP systems;
- Knowledge of drafting practices (form, fit, function, and dimensional tolerancing);
- Mechanical aptitude is beneficial;
- Ability to read and understand complex schematic drawings;
- Ability to read and write test procedures and reports;
- Ability to organize work and manage competing priorities;
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
- Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with others;
- Ability to concentrate upon data entry tasks for extended periods of time;
- Ability to compile and maintain accurate records; and
- Ability to fluently communicate (read, write, and speak) in the English language.
- Experience in documentation associated with products such as valves, valve-like components, and/or pressure vessels is of additional value
- Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other equipment, as applicable;
- Most work tasks are performed indoors where temperature is moderate and controlled by office environment systems;
- Ability to work (sit and/or stand) at a desk for majority of the workday; walking and/or standing may be required for the remainder of the workday. Length of time performing these physical requirements may vary from day to day and task to task;
- Requires grasping, writing, sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity;
- Ability to occasionally reach, lift and/or carry files, materials, and/or records weighing up to 15 lbs. ;
