We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking an Environmental Field Technician 1 to perform dust monitoring during construction activities, documenting construction activities, environmental and geotechnical sampling, providing subcontractor oversight, and treatment system operation and maintenance (O&M), in a field technical support role on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is a full-time, hybrid hourly field position located in our Costa Mesa, CA office.
In this role, you will work on environmental sites in the Los Angeles, Riverside, and Orange County Areas, conducting various technical tasks during construction activities and for environmental and geotechnical investigations and remediation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to independently conducting and documenting various field activities, treatment system O&M, air and dust monitoring, and soil, soil vapor, indoor air, groundwater, surface water sampling following approved industry standard procedures.
Training will be provided.
- Conduct subsurface explorations and soil identification and classification.
- Instrumentation calibration, installation, use, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Independently perform field investigations and assessments and conducting and documenting various field activities, treatment system O&M, air and dust monitoring, and soil, soil vapor, indoor air, groundwater, surface water sampling.
- Support site characterization efforts through thorough and complete documentation of field investigations such as subsurface explorations, monitoring well construction, and field sampling.
- Conduct basic construction observation, including quality control documentation and field-testing tasks.
- Organize, reduce, and synthesize field data for project use.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
- Use computer software to perform calculations and evaluate site data.
- Draft technical sections for project communications and reports.
- Perform all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
- Demonstrate Haley & Aldrich’s foundational safety behaviors.
- High school diploma, plus college coursework or training in Environmental Science and field collection methods.
- Technical ability or willingness to learn to evaluate and troubleshoot various types of field equipment and instrumentation.
- 1-2 years of environmental field experience relevant to air monitoring, deploying air samples, and conducting real-time air monitoring with PIDs and dust meters.
- Proficiency in technical writing, verbal communication, reasoning, and time-management.
- Ability to work independently or with minimal direction, under guidance from senior staff.
- Strong desire to learn and grow professionally, with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of field work: lift 50 lbs., traverse uneven landscapes, work outdoors in all weather, and maintain stamina for moderate physical activity for most working hours.
- Willingness to work a 10+ hour workday with early 6:30 am start times.
- Ability to commute and travel 80 to 100% to Riverside County sites and occasionally support other offices across the west coast, which may require overnight stays.
