Orange Coast College (OCC) is seeking equity-minded individuals for a classified employee role as a Student Services Program Coordinator under the Student Services Wing, as part of the Counseling Division.
The CollegeOrange Coast College's 164-acre campus is located in Costa Mesa, with a campus in Newport Beach (Waterfront Campus). OCC was founded in 1947 to serve a diverse local and global community. TheDepartment
The Guardian Scholars & Next-Up program supports current or former foster youth/wards of the court and related populations. The Student Services Program Coordinator for Guardian Scholars is part of the EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs/Umoja team and coordinates program activities, budgeting, and reporting, and collaborates with other departments to support student success. The coordinator serves as liaison to community organizations and other entities that support this population.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and facilitate activities to develop students’ skills in various student services and programs.
- Assist in program planning and implement activities to enhance student engagement (e.g., multi-cultural events, workshops, and resource access).
- Conduct information and advisement sessions; ensure reporting obligations are met at state and federal levels.
- Assist students with opportunities, applications, and ongoing support for college-sponsored programs.
- Collaborate with campus departments to provide in-service training and volunteer experiences to improve participation in co-curricular activities.
- Coordinate with faculty, staff, and administrators on best practices, customer service, and project coordination related to student engagement.
- Collaborate with campus community to generate innovative ideas to enhance student involvement and participate in district/college committees.
- Identify, develop, and arrange requests for proposals (RFPs); negotiate services, prepare contracts for approval.
- Provide progress updates and reports to ensure program objectives comply with policies and regulations.
- Oversee surveys and reports; monitor and improve student engagement activities based on feedback.
- Create informational materials in collaboration with Marketing and Public Relations.
- Schedule events, cultural trips, and activities to encourage student participation.
- Manage budgets, track expenditures, and assist with grant funding where applicable.
- Collect and analyze demographic and program participation data; present metrics on engagement and outcomes.
- Interpret District policies; ensure compliance with applicable rules and procedures.
- Maintain records and protect confidentiality of student information.
- Participate in committees and campus activities to promote student engagement and achievement.
- May maintain and update website pages using established formats and standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned; abide by District policies and the Code of Professional Ethics (BP 3050).
- Specialized knowledge of educational and student services program goals and regulations.
- Working knowledge of District education and administrative services and student engagement programs.
- Knowledge of how cultural, social, and economic differences impact student success.
- Knowledge of mentoring, tutoring, and study skill development methods.
- Professional writing skills for grants and performance reports.
- Budget literacy and ability to analyze financial documents.
- Awareness of regional demographics and needs of diverse student populations.
